About Chordalia Systems
Chordalia Systems LLC builds desktop and on-premises software applications for finding, understanding, and preserving your digital life. Our products run in infrastructure you control — your machine, your server, or your own cloud account — never on ours. Three of our products are: Arion, Chordium, and Cadenzium.
What we make
Three products built around the same principle: your data stays in infrastructure you control. For some products that means your local machine; for others it can also mean your own cloud subscription. Either way, never our servers.
- Arion — Discovery, Simplified. Windows desktop application that builds a searchable, full-text index of the documents on your computer (PDFs, Word, spreadsheets, EPUB books, web pages, archives, and more) and, in paid editions, your connected cloud storage and the spoken contents of video and audio files. Search returns matches in milliseconds with snippets; optional AI features add semantic search and natural-language question-answering using either your own Microsoft Azure subscription or a local AI model on your hardware. Free Personal edition for libraries up to 5,000 documents; one-time purchase per major version for Family and Archive. Available today. After purchase, customers receive a license file to activate the software.
- Chordium — Answers, Orchestrated. Knowledge base software for teams. (In development)
- Cadenzium — Memory, Composed. Personal journal archive with OCR and audio transcription. (In development)
How we think about software
Three commitments shape every Chordalia Systems product:
- Your data stays in infrastructure you control. Our software runs on your machine, your server, or your own cloud account — never on ours. When a product talks to cloud AI (e.g. Microsoft Azure for Arion), it does so through your subscription, with credentials you configure and can revoke. We don't have a copy of your documents and we couldn't read them if we wanted to.
- One-time licenses, not subscriptions where we can avoid them. You buy a major version and get every update within that version. New major versions cost extra, but existing customers get an upgrade discount. No treadmill.
- Open formats and replaceable components. Where we use open-source libraries (notably Qt under LGPL), we ship them in user-replaceable directories. If you ever need to swap a component, you can.
The story
Chordalia Systems LLC was founded as a family project. We saw a need for software that pulls together disparate sources of information and makes it readily available. A single project, which had been just a labor of love to help organize personal journals and letters, provided the basis for our whole system, as we saw more and more areas where this type of program could help.
As a result, we founded Chordalia Systems in the hopes that we'd be able to help others who found themselves in the same situation.
Who's behind it
- Bob, a former civil engineer turned software developer. He has worked for most of his adult life in engineering and security software and has a passion for making things work correctly.
- Sandra, a current customer support technician, who has personal experience with the chaos that unorganized information can create.
Where we are
Chordalia Systems LLC is organized under the laws of Utah. Headquartered in Orem, Utah.
Why "Chordalia"?
Chordalia Systems grew out of the theme of music. Our products are intended to work harmoniously within your life, bringing order where there was chaos, much like a symphony orchestra brings beautiful music from many disparate instruments. Our product names tend to be musically themed to help reinforce this idea of harmony.
